Children’s Hooded Fleece Jackets with Drawstrings Recalled by Golden Grove Trading Due to Strangulation HazardWASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of product: Children’s Hooded Fleece Jackets Units: About 6,100 Distributor: Golden Grove Trading Inc., of Covina, Calif. d/b/a Crystal Castle® Hazard: The jackets have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets or sweatshirts. Incidents/Injuries: None reported. Description: The recalled children’s hooded fleece jackets for ages 6-12 were sold in sizes M through XXL in black, navy, and heather gray royal blue. Brand names Golden Grove or Young USA, style number 20K, and RN number 106197 are printed on a tag on the jacket’s collar. Sold at: CVS Stores in the greater Los Angeles area from August 2008 through September 2008 for about $10. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or return the garment to the place of purchase or to Golden Grove Trading for a full refund.
